Frankie Knuckles dead aged 59

(Frankie Warren Knuckles Jr.)
January 18th 1955 – March 31st 2014

We are deeply saddened to report the passing of the “Godfather of House Music” reportedly due to problems arising from his diabetes.

At 59 years old he was still active and relevant in a career spanning some 44 years.

Born in the Bronx in New York but resident of Chicago he was a Grammy Award winner, in 2005 he was inducted into the Dance Music Hall of Fame and even had a stretch of road in Chicago renamed Frankie Knuckles Way. The senator responsible for making this happen was Barack Obama.

Whilst his genre of music may have only appealed to a small part of our audience he was undoubtedly a giant amongst his peers and an inspiration to many.

Our condolences go out to his family and friends.

Below, we have put together a collection of his tracks available to buy on iTunes, as well as compiling a playlist of his music, mixes and some interview clips.
